Engineering rationale for municipal drainage infrastructure

The project exists to deliver defensible hydraulic models and flood control designs that meet the specific regulatory requirements of Canadian Conservation Authorities. Every principle below is a constraint, not a slogan.

Hydraulic grade line certainty Each model must produce a verified HGL for the 100-year event. No extrapolation beyond the calibrated range is accepted in regulatory submissions.

Conservation Authority alignment All stormwater management plans follow the technical guidelines published by the local Conservation Authority. Deviations require written justification and peer review.

Return period consistency Design storms are drawn from the most recent IDF curves for the watershed. Historical data sets older than 10 years are flagged for update before use.

Post-construction monitoring Every flood control system includes a monitoring plan with flow gauges and stage sensors. Data collection intervals are defined in the permit conditions.
